Representatives from LMC Media and the Village of Mamaroneck (VOM) began negotiations last week in a meeting both sides described as “productive.”  Apparently it led to a short term arrangement until a contract is negotiated.

With a unanimous vote, the Board of Trustees (BOT) approved a resolution allowing Village Manager Kathleen Gill to execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Village and LMC.  See HERE.

This MOU provides the legal framework through which the Village can pay LMC for services and is in force until May 31, 2026.  Both sides expect to have a contract ready to be executed on or before June 1, the beginning of the Village’s fiscal year.

The MOU provides some history of the now extinct partnership between the Village of Mamaroneck, Village of Larchmont and Town of Mamaroneck covered by The Mamaroneck Observer in a previous article. (See HERE.) It also summarized the funds VOM had paid to LMC since the Board of Control dissolution in mid-2023 which total $1,266,497.

Under the MOU, the VOM will release the franchise fees from the fourth quarter of calendar year 2025, the first quarter of calendar year 2026, and a prorated portion of the fees to cover the months of April and May.  Gill described this as giving LMC “the funding they need.”

The MOU also states that LMC’s retention of these funds is contingent upon LMC and the VOM reaching a written agreement on or before June 1, 2026.

After the vote, LMC Media President Chris Gianutsos said he looked forward to moving ahead.

Editor’s Note:  As a follow-up to our previous article, The Mamaroneck Observer confirmed that LMC did reimburse the Village for the purchase of the van in 2019.
