The installation of solar panels in the parking lot at Mamaroneck High School has resumed but the Mamaroneck Avenue School project remains paused and is in discussion with the school district.

Mayor Sharon Torres issued the following information about the Mamaroneck School District’s Solar Panel Installation at Mamaroneck High School (MHS) and Mamaroneck Avenue School (MAS).

Please see Mayor Torres’ statement below:

The Stop Work Order on MHS has been removed because the construction was mostly completed and they will not be able to use the parking lot when school starts.  The Stop Work Order on MAS remains in effect.

Despite what you may read or hear, this is an ongoing legal matter and there will be no further public comments until such time as there is a legitimate update that can be shared.  We understand the lack of public details can be frustrating.  Please be patient as we work through this.

While there are many interpretations of what is happening, there is no animosity during this discussion.  This is a matter of interpreting the law and protecting all who are affected.  We are all well aware of complicating or mitigating factors, as well as the various opinions of residents regarding flooding, school start dates, parking, etc.

We thank you for your patience.
