Joseph Germano was born June 19, 1925, at 438 Center Avenue in Mamaroneck to Gaetano and Bernarda Germano. He attended local schools and graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1943. World War II had already started. In May 1943 he took a day off from school with Albert “Babe” Etre and went by train into NYC to join the United States Marine Corps.
