Recent Obituaries

Anthony DeRosa, of Mamaroneck, passed away August 5, 2024, at age 84.  He was born March 8, 1940, to Andrew & Florence DeRosa.  Anthony was a graduate of Manhattan College and later received his master’s degree from Fairfield University.  He enjoyed a longtime, 33 year career as a Biology Teacher at Pelham High School.  Anthony also served as President of the Teacher’s Association for 10 years.  Biology was his passion, yet he also enjoyed building models.  Anthony is the devoted husband of 55 years to Mary (nee Van Shea).  The couple was married on July 4, 1969.  In addition to his wife he is survived by his cherished children, Col. Andrew DeRosa (Nicole), Tamara Caraccio (Matthew) and Lauren DeRosa (Kevin Peterson), and loving grandchildren, Parker, Brady and Grayson Caraccio, Evelyn, Sebastian and Alexander DeRosa and Ava Peterson. Anthony is also survived by his brothers, Arthur and Alan DeRosa. 

 

Charlton Joseph Waldman (CJ), a devoted father, loving husband, cherished son, and beloved brother, passed away, leaving a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.  Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, in 1962, while his father served in the Army, CJ was the beloved son of Sandra and Seymour Waldman, and a dear brother to Marjorie and Stephen.

 

CJ’s early years were marked by a series of moves, living in: East New York, Valley Stream, and Northbrook, IL before the family settled in Chappaqua.  He graduated from Horace Greeley High School, where he formed lasting friendships and developed a passion for learning.  A proud alumnus of Colgate University, CJ was an active member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and played on the university's baseball team, displaying a love for sports that would follow him throughout his life.  His passion for art and history was evident and influenced many aspects of his life.

 

CJ went on to work in the creative advertisement industry, where he excelled and won numerous prestigious awards.  His colleagues and clients admired his creativity, dedication, and unwavering work ethic.  Yet, despite his professional achievements, CJ always prioritized his family and friends above all else.  Known for his creative abilities and kindness, he was a very sweet man who valued his relationships deeply.

 

A true family man, CJ spent his adult life in Larchmont and Mamaroneck, where he and his wife, Ellen, raised their three children, Zach, Carly, and Ethan.  He was a dedicated and loving father, always involved in his children's lives and activities.  CJ was an enthusiastic coach for his kids’ baseball and basketball teams, a role that allowed him to share his love for sports and impart valuable life lessons.  His children will always remember his encouragement, wisdom, and the joy he brought to their lives.

 

CJ was also a friend to many in the community.  His genuine warmth, generosity, and friendly nature made him a beloved figure among neighbors and friends.  He had a unique ability to connect with people, making them feel valued and appreciated. CJ’s home was a place of warmth and welcome, where friends and family gathered to share laughter, stories, and love.


Charlton Joseph Waldman leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness.  His memory will be cherished by his wife, Ellen Waldman; his children, Zach, Carly, and Ethan Waldman; his parents, Sandra and Seymour Waldman; his siblings, Stephen Waldman and Marjorie Deprez (Vincent); and the countless friends and community members whose lives he touched. 


CJ’s life was a testament to the values of family, friendship, and creativity.  He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
