Peter Agliardo Jr, a longtime Mamaroneck resident, passed away July 21, 2025, at age 91. Pete was born February 21, 1934, in the Bronx to Peter and Frances Agliardo. He worked in the oil and heating industry at Way-Wolff Associates for many years, and in retirement, continued as a consultant until his early 80's. Known for his integrity, he was esteemed by colleagues and city officials alike. Pete dedicated much of his time to community activities and affairs. He was an active parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Church, and then at Saint Gregory the Great Church, where he served as a lector, taught religious instruction, and participated in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Elks and Vittorio Emmanuel Club. He helped preserve Florence Park as a founding member of the Florence Park Association. He served many years on the Rye Neck School Board. Then he was elected to the Board of the Village of Mamaroneck, where he served as deputy mayor. In his leisure time, he loved to boat and fish in The Sound, and he was an avid card player as well.
He is survived by Ida (née Esposito) Agliardo, his loving wife of 66 years. He is also survived by his son Fr. Michael Agliardo SJ, his daughter Melody Cowles and her husband Chris, his son Peter Agliardo and his wife Bethany, and his grandsons Brendan, Christopher, Tyler, Nicholas, Benjamin, Justin. He is the brother of the late June Maida, the late Gloria Russo, and Richard Agliardo.
Mary Jo McGuire (nee Doherty) of Mamaroneck, NY passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on July 17, 2025. She was 63. Born in St. Vincents Hospital in New York City on December 3, 1961 to John and Ann Marie Doherty (nee Healey) and was raised in Pelham Manor, NY.
Mary Jo leaves behind her beloved husband, Scott McGuire; her loving children, Casey, Megan and Brinn; and her cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Dylan, Skylar, and newest baby Shea. She is also survived by her dear siblings: John Doherty (Lorraine), James Doherty (Amy), Kathleen Bogue (Parker), Richard Doherty (Donna), Diane Conover (Christopher) and Thomas Doherty (Donna), as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her relationships were her greatest joy - none more cherished than the bond she shared with her grandchildren. She treasured every minute spent with them.
Mary was happiest at home with her family, but she was ready for a ski trip or a beach vacation with her loved ones. Mary spent her childhood summers at Caspary Lodge in DeBruce NY, it quickly became her favorite place on earth. Since 1994, she had also been a proud member of Orienta Beach Club, where she enjoyed her summers sitting within a circle of dear friends.
John M. Fraioli, a lifelong resident of Mamaroneck, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on September 21, 1933, on Center Street not far from his family home, John was the beloved son of Gaetano (Thomas) and Genevieve (Jenny) Fraioli. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Being stationed overseas, but his favorite port of call was Brooklyn NY were he would love to be put on SP (Shore Patrol) duty to keep the sailors at bay during the Brooklyn Dodger Games were he got to see Jackie Robinson play.
A man of creativity, John earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute Brooklyn NY. As the founder of the Bergelt-Litchfield agency, he poured his heart and artistic vision into his work. His true passions, however, were found beyond the office walls — on the golf course at Winged Foot where he was a member for over 40 years, and by the ocean on Long Beach Island with family, where summertime of mini golf, warm seaside beaches and custard stands still draw wonderful memories. He was an avid collector of art and truly enjoyed sketching and drawing in his spare time.
Above all, John was a family man. He is now reunited in heaven with the love of his life, his late wife Constance Fraioli, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and laughter. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Peter Fraioli (Angela), Richard Fraioli (Meena), and Janet Marra (Tom), Christopher Fraioli (Kim). John was the proud and loving grandfather of Julia, Christina, Kaylee, Daniella, Peter, and Trevor John, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Joseph C. Messina, a longtime attorney, devoted family man, and Village of Mamaroneck native, passed away on June 26, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. He was 79 years old.
Born on May 4, 1946 in Port Chester, New York, Joe was the cherished son of the late Philip and Isabella Messina of Mamaroneck. He was an Eagle Scout, and a proud graduate of Iona Preparatory School, Class of 1964, where he remained an active alumnus for decades, serving in various leadership roles throughout the years. He earned degrees from New York University, Yale University and Fordham University School of Law.
Before turning to law, Joe made his mark in the music industry as a drummer, pianist, manager and producer. Early on, he was part of the team behind the iconic song “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” which earned a Gold Record. Throughout the 1970’s, ‘80’s and into the 90’s, he continued to manage recording artists and produced several independent records. His efforts earned him a Grammy nomination, and in 1979, he landed the largest record deal ever for an Indie band, Wowii. (Their long-shelved album was released 45 years later!)
He later founded the Law Offices of Joseph C. Messina on Mamaroneck Ave., serving the community for over three decades, including as Village Prosecutor and Zoning Board Attorney. Joe was also deeply committed to civic life. He held leadership roles in the Larchmont Rotary and the Larchmont Little League, where, as President, he led the merger with the Mamaroneck Kiwanis League – forming the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Little League that continues today.
A lifelong Yankee fan and member of Rye Golf Club, Joe loved playing golf with his sons and spending time with his grandchildren and family at LBI. He was always present either in person or online watching his grandchildren’s games, concerts and milestones. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna (nee Pallone) in 1968.
He is survived by Donna; his sons Joseph and Michael, his daughters-in-law Tanya and Amanda and grandchildren, Jake, Gabriella, Dylan, Charles, Sean and Michael, to whom he was simply “Pa”, his brothers-in-law, Frank Pallone and Anthony Pallone, his nephews Gregory Messina and Kevin Pallone, and his cousins and lifelong friends.
Joe is predeceased by his brother Charles Messina and nephew Brian Pallone.
