Coast Guard Auxiliary Honors Harbor Master

by Cindy Goldstein -

Village Harbor Master Jeff LaRusso received a Proclamation and Certificate of Appreciation from Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 75, which operates out of Harbor Island Park.  Vice Flotilla Commander David Saabye cited LaRusso as an essential partner in carrying out their mission.

LaRusso was instrumental in the recent renovation and installation of a dock for their vessel.  Operational readiness depends on safe, reliable infrastructure.

Established in 1940, the group has approximately 60 volunteer members and teaches boat safety courses, inspects navigational aids, and does vessel safety checks for recreational boaters.  They also assist local patrols in Long Island Sound and support Coast Guard missions.
