After delays caused by extreme heat and thunderstorms, the Waverly Avenue Bridge is scheduled to close sometime in mid-September.
Both Con Edison and Verizon have overhead utility wires that must be moved before the construction vehicles can be brought on site. Con Ed completed their relocations and Verizon is waiting for a break in the weather. The construction will start when Verizon completes their relocations.
The much-travelled Bridge will be closed for approximately one year during which traffic will be rerouted from Waverly Avenue to Hoyt Avenue. A temporary all-way stop will be implemented at the intersection of Hoyt and Fenimore and there will be no stopping on Hoyt near the intersection to allow better turning for truck traffic.
Additionally, Village police will be stationed at the intersections of Hoyt and Fenimore as well as Hoyt and Mamaroneck on Monday through Friday from 7 – 11 am and 2 – 6 pm. The expense for the police details will be reimbursed by the Town of Mamaroneck.
The Town of Mamaroneck is in the process of setting up a project update website on their home page which will provide updates.
