Soundview Avenue in the Heights is a dead end at the top of a hill overlooking Ward Avenue Park.  Recently a resident complained to the Department of Public Works that the dead end was hazardous, which led to an inspection and emergency funding for repairs.

Assistant Manager Dennis Delborgo presented this project to the Board of Trustees (BOT) at their October 13th Work Session (see memo HERE). The BOT unanimously agreed to put the item on the agenda for their Legislative Meeting later that evening and the resolution passed.

When viewing the photos, it is clear why the project was moved forward.  The end of the road formerly had large boulders preventing vehicles from going over the edge.  Currently, several of the boulders have rolled down the hill due to erosion and the road is no longer protected.

The BOT and Delborgo discussed the possibility of installing a guard rail in lieu of the boulders and Delborgo said it would be studied and discussed with the neighbors.  The project is estimated to cost $55,900 and will be funded with monies from the Reserve Fund.
