Fire Chief Thomas Siemsen presented a comprehensive data-driven report on the Fire Department’s activities in 2025 to the Board of Trustees (BOT) at their work session on March 9, 2026.  See presentation HERE.

Prefacing his remarks by saying that the Village Fire Department (FD) was busier than the departments of the Town of Mamaroneck, Village of Larchmont and Town/Village of Harrison which are either career (paid) or combined (combination paid and volunteer) departments.  The Village FD is all volunteer.

Siemsen reported that the FD responded to 912 incidents in 2025, an average of 2.5 per day.  These incidents ranged from structure fires (4) to rescue calls (100) to false alarms (466).  He also highlighted the record number of training hours (6,216) amassed last year.  As an example, Siemsen mentioned that NYS Firefighter I training encompassed 150 hours of training and at least that many in required “homework.”

Moving forward, Siemsen said the FD will continue its emphasis on professionalism, training, reducing false alarms and operational efficiency.

In addition to keeping our community safe, the FD also helps fund community activities.  Later that evening, at the Legislative Session, the BOT accepted a $2,500 donation from the FD Carnival Committee for the Summer Day Camp Scholarship Fund.
