Mark your calendars for Monday, April 13th.  That’s because the Village scheduled two public hearings for the Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting at 7:30 pm concerning parking fees and fines and you can have your say on the matter.

Proposed Local Law PLL J (see HERE) outlines metered parking in certain zones on Sundays in certain zones from 9 am to 1 pm and certain holidays.  If passed, this law will end the current practice of free meters on Sunday.

Also scheduled is a public hearing is Proposed Local Law PLL K (see HERE).  At the suggestion of Police Chief PJ Trujillo, the changes would increase certain fines for violating prohibited stopping, standing or parking from $25 to $35 for the first offense, $45 for a second offense and subsequent offenses at $55.  The fines are capped at $150 for violations of parking in handicapped spaces without a permit.

If the law is passed, permit parking areas could also see fines for violations increase but not to exceed $75.  Certain other fines are capped at $150.  Boat trailer violations would also be increased from a maximum of $50 to a maximum of $100.
