Mamaroneck welcomed two new sergeants and two new patrol officers as they were sworn in by Deputy Mayor Nora Lucas at the March 9, 2026 meeting of the Board of Trustees (BOT).

Promotions

Edgar Moreta and Anthony Fraioli were both promoted to sergeant as their family and fellow officers looked on.

Moreta joined the Village Police Department (VOMPD) in 2020 after serving for five years in Mount Vernon.  He has served in the Air Force National Guard and as an EMT in New York City.  He is currently a Field Training Officer for the VOMPD.

Fraioli is a native of the Village and received his degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College.  After service with the Westchester County Police for two years, he transferred to Mamaroneck in 2017.  Fraioli is also a Field Training Officer and is also a member of the SWIFT Water Rescue Team.  Besides English, Fraioli speaks  Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

New Patrol Officers

Max Leifert and George Barrett were sworn in as VOMPD Patrol Officers as their proud families attended the ceremony.

Leifert is a graduate of Mamaroneck High School and SUNY Oswego.  He is currently attending the Police Academy and will join the department upon graduation in June.  Leifert has served as a Park Ranger at Rye Playland and his mom is a teacher at Bellows School.

Barrett is currently in field training, preparing to soon begin his tenure as a patrol officer.  He is an EMT and is a certified lifeguard.
