For many of us, our dogs are more than just pets; they’re beloved members of the family. This companionship comes with the responsibility of balancing their care with our busy lives. A new local solution has arrived in the heart of the village: The Dog Stop Mamaroneck.
Located at 124 Palmer Avenue, the former site of New York Sports Club, The Dog Stop is poised to become an essential resource for local dog families. Owners Thumper Moyle and Jonathan Friedman envisioned this facility as a supportive partner for local pet owners, inspired by their own dogs, Hairy and Tucker. “We are all about personalized service and take our commitment to this community very seriously,” Moyle emphasizes, highlighting their focus on creating a welcoming environment for both pets and their owners.
Spacious Facilities
Spanning over 11,000 square feet, The Dog Stop features four indoor play areas and an outdoor playspace, providing plenty of room for dogs to romp and get fresh air. The facility offers a wide range of services, including boarding, daycare, grooming, and transportation. A curated retail area stocked with quality pet products ensures that pet owners can easily find what they need.
Personalized Service
“As owner-operators, we can be flexible with our hours,” Friedman explains. “For instance, when a client’s daughter got hurt playing field hockey, we stayed until the owners were able to come.” This level of dedication is a hallmark of their service, setting them apart from the rigidity often found in corporate-owned facilities.
For pups that prefer less group interaction, The Dog Stop Mamaroneck offers a VIP program for “Very Independent Players,” ensuring every dog finds a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Dogs are also evaluated for temperament and matched with dogs that have similar play styles.
Comprehensive Boarding Options
The Dog Stop Mamaroneck provides safe, all-inclusive dog boarding services available year-round, including holidays. Each pup enjoys a private, climate-controlled suite equipped with cozy bedding, food and water bowls, medication administration, and a full day of interactive daycare.
Standard Suites ($88/night) offer private accommodations with raised bedding, 24/7 video monitoring, and round-the-clock care. Their Luxury Suites ($120/night) feature spacious rooms, elevated bedding, turn-down service, cuddle time, and a dedicated Dog Butler, providing one-on-one attention throughout the day.
Rates and Packages
Daycare services are available for 12 hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with flexible drop-off and pick-up times. Daycare rates range from $36 for a half day to $48 for a full day, with discounts available for additional dogs in the family.
“We are offering a Grand Opening special of $299/month for unlimited daycare, which is guaranteed for a year,” says Friedman. Additionally, The Dog Stop provides Play Passes, with packages of 4 to 12 days or unlimited access tailored to fit the needs of busy pet owners.
Grooming
Alongside boarding, The Dog Stop offers a unique grooming experience where dogs are groomed in an open space, allowing them to interact with each other and enhancing their overall daycare experience. “We invite everyone to come in for a complimentary day to see how you and your dog like our facility. We want all pets and their owners to feel comfortable,” says Moyle.
Dedicated Staff Training
The dedicated staff at The Dog Stop Mamaroneck undergoes 30 hours of extensive training in canine safety, health, and behavior, ensuring that each dog receives personalized attention and care. The staff’s commitment to quality care helps build trust within the community, as Moyle and Friedman aim to be seen as reliable partners for local dog families. “We understand the challenges of balancing busy lives with pet care needs and are here to support our clients every step of the way,” Friedman states.
