The Village of Mamaroneck Committee for the Environment invites residents and visitors to explore the natural beauty of native plants during the 2025 Native Plants Garden Tour. On Sunday, July 20, from 1 PM to 4 PM, attendees can explore a variety of private and public gardens that showcase innovative approaches to native gardening, pollinator habitats, and eco-friendly practices.
This year marks a significant expansion of the tour, as organizer Julie Rubin, a new member of the committee, has included two Greenway parks, enhancing the event’s focus on community-led restoration efforts. At private gardens, visitors will have the opportunity to meet garden owners who will share their insights and experiences in fostering vibrant ecosystems right in their backyards (see the flyer for garden locations).
The gardens on display will be open for drop-in visits and are located throughout the village, including Orienta, Rockland, Rye Neck, and Shore Acres neighborhoods, as well as the newly restored Nostrand-Howard Riverside Park and the Rockland Pocket Preserve.
A highlight of the tour will be a musical performance featuring a talented musician from the Rockland neighborhood, scheduled for 3:30 PM at the Rockland Pocket Preserve. This addition promises to bring a festive atmosphere to the event, making it an enjoyable experience for all ages.
Participants are encouraged to explore the interactive online map to learn about each garden's unique features. The map can be accessed at https://viewer.mapme.com/native-plants-garde-tour-vom-25 . For those unable to attend due to inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Sunday, July 27, 2025.
The Village of Mamaroneck’s 2025 Native Plants Garden Tour is not only a celebration of local gardening efforts but also an opportunity to connect with neighbors and share a collective appreciation for the natural environment.
