At the June 22, 2026 meeting of the Board of Trustees (BOT), the Capital Budget for fiscal year 2026-27 was unanimously approved with a 4-0 vote.  (Mayor Sharon Torres, returning from a business trip, was stuck at an airport due to inclement weather.)

The $13.4 million budget is part of a larger multi-year plan that lists projects and costs through FY 2029-30 and totals $74.8 million.  By law, the vote was only for the current year.

The Mamaroneck Observer covered the budget in detail when it was released last month.  See HERE for article.

The goals for the current fiscal year are stated as:

·      Organizational & Vehicle Assessment

·      Harbor Island Improvements

·      Assessment of all Fire Houses

·      Flood Mitigation

·      Roadway Paving

·      Downtown Revitalization

·      Public Safety Equipment

Flooding is the number one priority over the entire four-year period; the current year reflects the start of several large, multi-year projects.

At the meeting, Len Aubrey, Chair of the Village Budget Committee, stressed that the spending is considerably larger than previous years and the scope of the plan is “ambitious.”  Aubrey pointed out that the proposed Civic Center was not included but will still require an investment of time and Village resources.

Aubrey continued that the Budget Committee was concerned about the “significant investment of resources needed to get projects done on time and within budget.”  He cautioned that additional people would be needed to achieve that goal.
