The Board of Trustees (BOT) voted 4:0 to accept staff's recommendation to fund the replacement of the traffic signals at the intersection of Mamaroneck and Prospect Avenues in order to enhance public safety.  (Trustee Ellen Silver did not attend the meeting.)  The capital project to replace the current signals and allow for an all-pedestrian phase had been scheduled for the 2027-2028 fiscal year.  After several vehicle-pedestrian accidents at that location, the BOT agreed to accelerate this project and delay others.

The project is estimated at $660,000 and will be funded by excess funds in the Reserve Fund.  See memo HERE. The BOT will officially vote to start the project at the November 9th meeting.

The Village had recently made changes to the traffic light to add a “leading pedestrian phase” to give pedestrians a head start to cross Mamaroneck Avenue.  See HERE.

The BOT also agreed to purchase a replacement garbage truck ahead of schedule, along with a recycling trailer.

After these transfers, the Village’s Reserve Fund (legally mandated at 30% of total budgeted expenditures) has an excess of $1,590,128.
